History
The municipality was first named “Buwal” as Tuburan means spring. It attracted a lot of beautiful Tuburan women because of its abundant spring water, verdant valley and thick forest.

More than a decade later , its leader, with the full support of the people, struggled for an independent municipality which culminated on December 27, 1973, when the President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos issued Presidential Decree No. 336 in 1953. After that issuance, there followed rapid economic growth in the area. (eLGU, DTI)
